IPKeys’ Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Gaming and Modeling Environment (I-GAME), is an essential training tool to assist US forces and First Responders in the fight against threats both foreign and domestic. Initially built to support the OEF and OIF campaigns, it is poised to be a combat multiplier with emerging threats such as Islamic State militants in Iraq and other global regions where the IED is used as a tool for terrorists.
Over the last decade, IPKeys has been involved with analyzing software to replicate worldwide roadside bomb attacks and leading efforts to build an immersive interactive tool which simulates detecting and defeating these explosive devices in a realistic environment. The latest release of I-GAME, version 1.2, leverages an immersive mobile simulation usable on most computers. Built upon the worlds most sophisticated gaming platform, the user need not be in a costly and usually unavailable simulation center, as I-GAME is run as an application on a user’s PC, laptop, or handheld device. As a result, training lane and equipment availability is not a limitation for initial or sustainment training. I-GAME users can customize the tools environment’s characteristics based on feedback from the personnel on the ground. Trainers can create and modify scenarios that simulate ground combat patrols and replicate enemy techniques where a soldier would need to use Handheld Detectors, Mounted & Dismounted sensors, Drones and Robots to find IEDs buried in the ground. Due to its simplicity to customize real-world scenarios, I-GAME is also provides the ability to conduct “rock drills” or support After Action Reviews.
The result of using I-GAME allows our forces to adapt their techniques in a relatively risk-free environment in order to defeat their enemies changing technologies and tactics. I-GAME is approved for Army and Navy computer systems with an approved Certificate of Networthiness and Authority to Operate allowing immediate access at the unit level.
